Delta Blitz: a multi-agency event to promote safe boating

SAN FRANCISCO – The Coast Guard, Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and other partner agencies are joining together for Delta Blitz I, Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening, to kick off the official start of the recreational boating season.  Delta Blitz I is the first of several on and offshore patrolling efforts aimed at eliminating the escalating number of recreational boating accidents and fatalities in the Bay Area Delta Region. Known as a  haven for thousands of California boaters annually, the Delta Region is considered one of the state’s “hot spots” in terms of water recreation, according to the California Department of Boating and Waterways.
